Cows Can Talk ... and they will talk to your pupils!

In her unique stories, local farmer and author Julie Andrews uses a friendly, down to earth, autobiographical style, to tell young readers about the lives of the cows in her herd. During the many hours Julie spends caring for her cows she has reached a wonderful understanding, of life patterns between humans and animals. The stories cover hard to handle issues such as bullying, bereavement, cancer, disability and peer pressure, Julie’s wiry humour and deep humanity (or cowity, perhaps) shine through and allows children to approach the sensitive issues in a gentle, non threatening but very honest way.

Jan Stone has been a teacher all her working life and has a special gift for using class discussion, drawing, role play and drama to explore aspects of the PSHE curriculum with children. She has a wide experience of working with bereaved children, and those suffering abuse or with family challenges. Julie and Jan have joined forces to present the Cows Can Talk Roadshow a selection of half-day workshops for Key Stage 2 and 3 pupils. Each session involves a lively mix of storytelling, discussion and interactive work with class or year groups.
